Study site: Larzac (France)
Larzac

Site description: Larzac limestone plateau is located at the north-east of Montpellier in the south of France. Numerous permanent and temporary man-made ponds are present in an open landscape.

Study species: Palmate newts Lissotriton helveticus paedomorphs (individuals retaining gills at the adult stage) and metamorphs (metamorphosed adult individuals), Alpine newts Mesotriton alpestris, Marbled newts Triturus marmoratus.

Research topics: temporal use of habitats, demography and dynamics of populations, metamorphosis rate, distribution range, conservation, emerging diseases, invasive species.
